Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Coming To PlayStation 4 This May

by Brian Shea on Mar 02, 2015 at 03:41 PM

Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will make its way to PlayStation 4 on May 12. The package, which released on PlayStation 3 and Vita in 2014, features remastered graphics from the original PlayStation 2 release, as well as reworked music in Final Fantasy X.

The PlayStation 4 version will include the exclusive option to switch between the remastered music and the original recordings in Final Fantasy X, as well as cross-save functionality with the PS3 and Vita versions. Those playing on the PlayStation 4 can utilize the remote play feature of the PlayStation Vita to play away from their console.

Square Enix has also revealed a special pre-order bonus: an exclusive desktop calendar featuring artwork from Yoshitaka Amano. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on PlayStation 3 and Vita received high praise from us when it released a year ago.

Our Take
I consider Final Fantasy X one of my favorite games of all-time, but after owning it on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Vita, I'm not 100% sure I'll be picking it up again on PlayStation 4. That said, the desktop calendar is pretty cool looking, and I like the ability to switch between the remastered and original music.
