Heavenly Sword Art Director Returns To Ninja Theory To Work On Hellblade

by Kyle Hilliard on Feb 22, 2015 at 05:59 AM

Hugues Giboire served as art director on Heavenly Sword, but left the studio shortly after completing work on the game. Recently, Giboire has returned to the studio to work on Hellblade.

Ninja Theory recently lost a few key members of its Hellblade art team, including its art director and senior character artist, which opened the door for Giboire to return. Since completing work on Heavenly Sword, Giboire worked on games like BioShock 2 and The Darkness II.

Our Take
I have a lot of affection for Ninja Theory, and especially Heavenly Sword. I wrote about the studio as part of our developer salute series of features. The studio was at the forefront of performance capture, which has become crucially important to modern game development. I'm excited to see more of the original Heavenly Sword team returning for Hellblade and it makes me even more excited for the game.
