Civilization: Beyond Earth Getting A Substantial Update

by Daniel Tack on Feb 20, 2015 at 11:15 AM

An upcoming Civilization: Beyond Earth update will focus on game balance and improvements as well as setting the stage for integration with Sid Meier's Starships. This cross-game connectivity will allow those with 2K accounts to link the games together and receive a new planet, the Glacier.

Wonders have undergone major changes, with most of them receiving effect changes - the team wasn't satisfied with the marginal upgrades they provided, as players were opting out of them completely for standard buildings much of the time.

Trade routes are also receiving major revisions, and friendly aliens will be less of a nuisance toward allied workers. These upgrades come alongside a number of bug fixes, adjustments, and general improvements.

Our Take
These changes are much desired. Like Civilization V before it, Beyond Earth will probably take a bit of time to become a "complete" entry to the fantastic strategy franchise.
