2K Releases Impressive First-Week Stats For Evolve

by Jeff Marchiafava on Feb 20, 2015 at 08:06 AM

Turtle Rock and 2K have put together an infographic sharing a vast array of statistics for Evolve's first week out in the wild. Turns out, people are playing the game a lot.

They released a similar stat round-up for Evolve's beta, and the numbers keep on growing. In just over a week (eight days to be exact), gamers have played roughly six million matches, for a total playtime of more than 946,000 hours, or 108 years. Over 4.7 million people also watched Evolve matches on Twitch during that time.

Match stats continue to be surprisingly even; the monster has a slight edge over hunters, winning 51.9% of the time compared to the hunters' 48.1% win ratio. The infographic also breaks down who the most popular hunters and monsters are, which you can see below – though I'm still shaking my head at the majority of players choosing Lazarus over Caira or Val, and Bucket is somehow the least-used support member?!

For more on Evolve, read our review, and check out our guide that's full of awesome tips and tricks – like not choosing Lazarus and playing as Bucket when you're support because his turret drones and guided-missile launcher are awesome...

Our Take
Character-selection jokes aside, these stats show how in-depth Turtle Rock's data tracking is, which has undoubtedly helped the developer balance matches as evenly as they have – which in turn is also probably why people are playing so many matches and tuning in to watch others play on Twitch. It will be interesting to see where these numbers go in the future, as my biggest question about the game is still how long it can keep players interested.
