Xbox One Upload Studio Now Lets You Do Green Screen Tricks With Just The Kinect

by Mike Futter on Feb 16, 2015 at 10:27 AM

Microsoft is rolling out a big update to Upload Studio on the Xbox One. In addition to new maximum video length of 30 minutes, users will find a number of new features on board.

Users can now load videos with up to 15 different segments. There are new title cards, splash screens, templates, and transitions.

One of the more clever updates makes use of the Kinect 2.0’s ability to discern the human body from the rest of the scene. Using the camera, Upload Studio now includes a green screen feature with a number of backgrounds.

Manipulating the clips within the timeline appears easy, but templates are there for those users that would prefer a faster path. Using one is as simple as dropping your clips into designated spots in the preset configuration.

You can check out all the new features in the video above.

Our Take
Upload Studio isn’t just a fun and easy tool, it’s a smart social hook. Giving users more flexibility with it is likely to bring more creators to the table, too. I’m curious to see what people come up with.
