Weekend Warrior 02/06/2015

by Elise Favis on Feb 06, 2015 at 01:00 PM

The editorial team has a varied list of games to play this weekend. Some of us are reuniting with an old, dead friend from Grim Fandango, whilst others are tackling the all-the-rage roguelike dungeon crawler, Darkest Dungeon. Brian Shea is diving into Dragon Age: Inquisition, along with a couple others. If you missed the live stream of Darkest Dungeon this past week, then head over and watch our Test Chamber of the game instead. Let us know what you plan on playing this weekend down in the comments.

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea): I’ve overfilled my plate yet again. In addition to playing through Grand Theft Auto V on PS4, I’ve also started Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Plus, I bought the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Season Pass last night. At this point, I’m pretty much drowning in games from last year.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard): I'm hoping to get started on a review game this weekend, but otherwise I started playing Resident Evil HD last night. I've played nearly all the Resident Evil games, but I have never beaten the original. Maybe this will be the time I finally make it all the way through. Other than that, I would like to finish up the last few episodes of Breaking Bad before Better Call Saul premieres.

Ben Hanson (@yozetty): This weekend I'm hoping to play more of Grim Fandango Remastered. It's a roller-coaster ride of "This is the greatest game ever" and "This is the dumbest puzzle design I've ever seen in my life", try it out! Other than that, I'm sure I'll be playing some Drawful at some point over the weekend and I'm thinking about starting up Darkest Dungeon. For a game with such a boring name, everybody seems to be losing their mind with praise for this early-access game. Have a good weekend!

Tim Turi (@timturi): This weekend is a cram session of gaming before I leave for a work trip. I’ve finally finished the main story missions for Fallout 3, which I adored. The only content I’ve yet to play is all of the Point Lookout DLC and Broken Steel missions. Fallout 3 is one of the best games I’ve ever missed, and I’m super excited to dive back in and finish things up this weekend. Beyond that, I’ve been cranking on my review for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and will likely be playing a lot more of that.

Matthew Kato (@MattKato): I just started up the Early Access version of Darkest Dungeon, and am loving it so far. I like the game's difficulty, and I'm trying to resist the urge to dive into all the online guides, etc. and am trying to just enjoy myself. I've started the first episode of Life is Strange, and need to make some more progress on that. I'm already intrigued by it, but am curious how it holds up once the newness wears off.

Andrew Reiner (@Andrew_Reiner): The weekend starts with a midnight screening of the new Replay episode over at the I Watched the Entire Overblood Super Replay Facebook group and ends with as much Dying Light as I can squeeze in. Movie watching includes John Wick and 47 Ronin.

Mike Futter (@futterish): This weekend, I’ll be finishing up my weekly Destiny goals. That hopefully includes getting my first character to the max level of 32 and running Crota’s End on hard mode. I’ll also be returning to Dying Light, which I am thoroughly enjoying, and putting more time in with Dragon Age: Inquisition. I also suspect I’ll be drawn back to Transformers: Battle Tactics, because I love me some energon.

Jon Gregory (@JMan240): This weekend I think I’ll attempt to rip myself away from Inquisition character number 4 and finally finish Metal Gear Solid 4. 4 is the theme this week. I just played the bit where Liquid Ocelot and Meryl/Solid Snake are fighting over Big Boss’ stupid torso in a bag before I came up to Minneapolis, so I’m probably not far off from the end (maybe about 4 hours? Or more likely 44.) Outside of that, I’ll be knocking out some 2.5 HD Remix on at least 4 separate occasions and continuing my trek through Gransys in Dragon’s Dogma for the fourth straight day.

Justin Mikos (@JustinMikos): I just finished Assassin’s Creed Unity and I’m ready to move on to something new, but I’m not sure what. I’ll probably choose between Wolfenstein or Dragon Age to start up next.  Other than my next big game, I really want to play some fighting games this weekend so I’m going to devote some serious time to play Guilty Gear Xrd. As for anime, I’m continuing with Durarara X2, Aldnoah.Zero, and also Sailor Moon Crystal after the ludicrous tease for part 2.

Elise Favis (@elisefavis): Since I have finally beaten Dragon Age: Inquisition, I’m going to focus mostly on Grim Fandango Remastered and Assassin’s Creed Unity. Playing Grim Fandango after so many years is bittersweet, especially after getting stuck in that dreadful tree maze area. Now that I’ve reached Year 2, which is my favorite section of the game, I’m enjoying it a lot more. “Do you think she’ll come in tonight?” Oh, hopeless Manny.
