This Week In Mobile: Abstract Horror, Adventure, Transformers, and Zig Zags!

by Justin Mikos on Feb 06, 2015 at 10:27 AM

This week’s list has a wide range of games to play from simple time wasters to some creative new ideas. There is also a big sale for a beloved RPG classic. Read on to find out some of the interesting experiences to be found in the mobile world.

Evoland
Developer: Shiro Games
Platform: iOS, Android
Price: $4.99

Evoland is touted as letting you experience the evolution of adventure gaming. Basically the game starts as a monochrome adventure with no vertical movement, but as you play you upgrade the experience to include color, 3D graphics and more. You are encouraged to revisit areas after you improve the experience to see them in a whole new light and make progress.

Dark Echo
Developer: RAC7 Games
Platform: iOS
Price: $1.99

Dark Echo is an abstract horror game with over 80 levels. When you look at the screen you see your footsteps as well the echoes of all the sounds in the environment. Through your headphones you can hear the monsters that are attacking you and use that information to help you navigate the environment and avoid meeting a grisly demise.

Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition
Developer: Bioware, Overhaul Games, Beamdog
Platform: iOSAndroid
Price: $4.99 IOS, $9.99 Android

For the next few days, the iOS port of Bioware’s classic RPG will be on sale for %50 off. Now would be a good time to jump in on the game that inspired the Dragon Age series. The original 60 hour adventure is included in the iOS port as well as three of the expansion quests. The Android version remains at its original price of $9.99.

Transformers: Battle Tactics
Developer: DeNA
Platform: iOS, Android
Price: Free

Transformers: Battle Tactics is a free-to-play game where you assemble a squad of Transformers to face off against the world in PvP battles. The game has a good amount of strategy such that I was able to beat opponents statistically better than me through smart ability usage. Be warned though, the free-to-play elements aren’t intrusive at first, but they do hamper the experience the longer you play.

ZigZag
Developer: Ketchapp
Platform: iOS
Price: Free

ZigZag is a pretty great time waster. Your ball needs to move forward on a zig zagging road and all you need to do is tap on the screen to change directions to avoid falling off. The game changes color the better you are doing so it feels pretty good to chase a high score.
