[Update] MLB 15 The Show Gets 10th Anniversary Edition And New Screens

by Mike Futter on Feb 05, 2015 at 12:07 PM

Update: After debuting new gameplay for fans earlier today, Sony has released five screenshots that show off how MLB 15 has made some visual advancements over MLB 14. In the screens, players can see changes to player faces, improved time of day depictions, and overall higher detail across the board.

Check out the new screens in the gallery below.

Original Story:

Sony’s San Diego Studio is celebrating 10 years of MLB The Show in 2015. To commemorate the milestone, Sony is putting together a special package for fans that won’t break the bank.

For $69.99 ($10 more than the standard edition), players get special steelbook packaging, in-game premium currency (12,000 stubs), 15 bonus item packs, and a dynamic home screen theme for each team. A digital version with the same bonuses will be available, also.

There’s also a pre-order bonus for a physical controller skin. You’ll get a voucher for one of these, redeemable at a number of retailers.

If you want to see the title in action, you can tune into San Diego Studio’s Twitch channel today at 2 p.m. Pacific / 5 p.m. Eastern. The title will arrive on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Vita on March 31.

Our Take
In an age of $150 collector’s editions (and sometimes more), the more modest upgrade that directly impacts the game and caters to fans seems quite reasonable. It’s also smart for Sony to give it’s die-hard fans a taste of what the in-game transactions get them. "The first one’s free" in this case.
