The Art Of Total War Is Out, Sega Still Mum On Warhammer Tie-In Despite Mention In Print

by Mike Futter on Jan 23, 2015 at 09:35 AM

Today sees the release of The Art of Total War, a look back at 15 years of the franchise’s titles across history. As we reported last week, the book references a project called Total War: Warhammer.

Now that the publication is out widely, we reached out to Sega to see if the company is ready to talk about its Warhammer tie-in. Unfortunately, the publisher still isn’t ready to tell us anything.

The book is an official look at the franchise, with quotes from the developers. One such quote directly references the now two-year-old Warhammer license and an upcoming game.

When we reached out to Sega today, the publisher reiterated that it had nothing to share at this time. We’ll let you know if and when that changes.

Our Take
It seems odd to allow the reference to Total War: Warhammer appear in the book without any kind of follow-up, official announcement, or even acknowledgement. Did this slip through the editing process, or is Sega coyly testing the waters? Perhaps the publisher is waiting until Total War: Atilla is out the door on February 17.
