New DriveClub Update Adds Five Japanese Tracks, Rainbows, More

by Jeff Cork on Jan 19, 2015 at 12:14 PM

DriveClub players can now download a new update to the game, which brings it up to version 1.10. It adds five new tracks set in Japan with a total of 11 variants, new weather effects, changes to A.I. behavior, and more. The update weighs in at more than 3 GB, so you might want to start downloading it now if you plan on playing soon.

It's a fairly comprehensive update, covering a variety of issues and adding a host of new content. Things including the speed of the windshield wipers have been tweaked, and rainbows and heat haze have been added. New tracks include races set across Japan: Nakasendo, Lake Shoji, Asagiri Hills, Takagari Hills, and Goshodiara, There's also a new multiplayer time trial mode. You can check out the complete list of changes here.

Our Take
So far, DriveClub has done a good job of steadily releasing content post-launch. You could argue that some of these additions, such as weather effects and the photo mode, should have been in the game from day one. Still, I like the idea of getting a decent number of free tracks on a regular basis. It seems as though racing fans have a lot of options out there right now, and keeping a player base engaged is more critical than ever.
