Here's What A Jak & Daxter Level Looks Like Remade In CryEngine

by Kyle Hilliard on Jan 17, 2015 at 12:09 PM

YouTube user Floordan is working on a project called Jak II Renegade: Reborn, and has recreated the pumping station from Jak II using CryEngine.

You can check out the screens above and below comparing the the new and old versions of the game. If you're unsure which screen belongs to which version (which would be surprising), the lower screen is the original game.

Floordan also put together a video showcasing the remade memorable pumping station level, complete with shiny Precursor orbs and ammo boxes strewn about. You can see the video below.

Naughty Dog toyed with the idea of creating a new Jak & Daxter game before diving into The Last of Us, but decided against it. Neil Druckmann showed some of the project's progress before it was abandoned at an IGDA talk, which you can see here.

Floordan isn't the only fan attempting to remake a classic PlayStation 2/Xbox era game in a new engine. Earlier today we reported on a Unreal 4 remake of Bully's Bullworth academy.

Update: Naughty co-president Evan Wells has offered some feedback on the level. He seems as excited about it as the rest of us.
