Report: Asymmetric Friday The 13th Game In Development, No Studio Confirmed

by Mike Futter on Jan 12, 2015 at 04:23 AM

Last year tipped off the digital collectible card game movement and 2013 saw a huge flood of MOBAs enter the scene. It’s starting to look like 2015 will be the year of asymmetric competitive gaming.

Evolve certainly isn’t the first game to pit unbalanced teams with different skill sets against one another, but it’s high profile has attracted others to the concept. BioWare’s Shadow Realms and Lionhead’s Fable Legends both use the concept of a powerful lone player against a team.

Now reports are emerging that the concept will bleed into classic horror. According to EGM, an asymmetric game based on Friday the 13th is in the works. The outlet spoke to the creator of the franchise, Sean S. Cunningham, but no further details are available.

No developer or publisher have been announced. According to EGM, the game is slated for release in October.

Our Take
Without a developer or publisher announced, I’m skeptical about the potential for this game. I’d love to see a great game with the Friday the 13th theme, but details are so slim at this point and release is so soon, that my expectations are tempered.
