Transformers Universe Is Closing

by Kimberley Wallace on Dec 16, 2014 at 06:27 AM

Transformers Universe, which was announced back in 2012, will be no more. The massively online tactical action game that let you play as an Autobot or a Deception is shutting down on January 31 at 10 AM (GMT).   The closure period starts now, though. Those who purchased a founders pack, relic bundle, or any starter packs will be refunded within in the next 30 days. Refunds should occur by January 16. Otherwise, you are urged to contact customer service. Players won't be able to make new accounts, but can still log in to their current account and play until the closure date.

"Once again, we want to thank all of the players that have played Transformers Universe and all those that have worked on the project," the development team wrote in its closure post. "We're sure you have thoughts and feelings that you'd like to share on this, so please do so on our forums. Please bear in mind that this is obviously a challenging time for all involved, especially the CM team. There will be plenty of things we can't comment on, so please respect their position."

In the post, it was also said that Jagex and Hasbro have decided to "realign plans and refocus" for 2015.

Our Take
I never like to hear news like this, but free-to-play games aren't an easy market to crack. At least this will allow Jagex and Hasbro to move on to properties with more opportunities.
