New SaGa Title Heading To Vita In 2015

by Kyle Hilliard on Dec 14, 2014 at 08:30 AM

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the SaGa series, Square Enix and creator Akitoshi Kawazu announced a new entry planned for the series to release next year.

The news was revealed during a recent livestream where Kawazu announced Square Enix's intentions to make the game, as well as two pieces of concept art by series illustrator Tomomi Kobayashi.

The SaGa series first appeared in North America as Final Fantasy Legend for Game Boy, but the Super Nintendo saw the release of a few Romancing SaGa games. The last title to release in North America was Unlimited Saga for the PlayStation 2 in 2003, which we scored a 6.5 out of 10.

Our Take
The SaGa series is one I never got into, personally, but I remember the release of Unlimited SaGa being divisive among RPG fans. Some loved it, more disliked it. Regardless of how I feel about the series, though, I am a fan of more exclusive Vita titles, so this is good news for the handheld.
