Twitch On Xbox One Gets Video On Demand Viewing, Extensive Filters

by Mike Futter on Dec 09, 2014 at 04:00 AM

Microsoft has announced updates to the Twitch experience that will make it easier to find specific content. An update that goes live today introduces extensive filtering options tailored to specific games.

In a new video, you’ll get a look at some of the options you can explore to find streams that meet your requirements. For instance, you can filter Call of Duty by Kill/Death ratio, prestige, win percentage, and more.

Each game has filters based on its key factors. You can hunt for streamers by mode, event type, and player performance. This update also introduces video on demand viewing, so you can watch archived content directly on your console.

One additional significant improvement allows viewers to follow entire games (in addition to specific channels). You’ll be able to start using the new features today.

Our Take
These improvements make Xbox One a more reasonable way to interact with Twitch as a viewer. I'm still hopeful that Microsoft is able to improve the streaming experience by allowing users to pipe party chat through to viewers. Being able to give those watching all sides of the voice conversation is important for multiplayer streaming.
