Weekend Warrior 12/5/14

by Matthew Stolpe on Dec 05, 2014 at 01:00 PM

This weekend sees some of the GI staff in Las Vegas for the Video Game Awards and PlayStation Experience, but seeing all the new games won’t stop Reiner from getting time with Danganronpa. Back home Tim Turi, Jeff Marchiafava are trying their darnedest to take a chunk out of Dragon Age: Inquisition, while Sam’s decided he’s going to play some Dota 2 for a change. What’s on tap for your weekend?

Ben Hanson (@Yozetty): This weekend I'll be in Las Vegas for the Geoff Keighley's Video Game Awards (or the Geoffies, as he repeatedly insists on calling them) and then PSX! So I'll be playing some unreleased games, which should be fun. I'll be heading straight for the Amplitude booth and look forward to playing multiplayer against Alex Rigopolous from Harmonix. I'll also be playing Close Castles and the new Destiny content, so that should be fun! Let me know what else you'd like us to cover from the show, there should be a lot of fun announcements. Have a good weekend!

Andrew Reiner (@Andrew_Reiner): I'm in Vegas for the Game Awards and PlayStation Experience. My traveling companions are Danganronpa on Vita and the comic book Saga.

Tim Turi (@timturi): This weekend is all about Dragon Age: Inquisition. The trick with massive RPGs is just to shut out every other game possible and lock in on it. Nothing is worse than dropping a long, complex RPG halfway through for another distraction, than trying to remember where the hell you were when you come back to it. Determination, discipline, and a little grinding are all it takes!

Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM) : I’m still plugging away at Dragon Age: Inquisition, and I get the sneaking suspicion that I’m playing way too slow. After 20 hours, I’m just finally leaving the Hinterlands. By this rate I should finish the game by 2016. In the unlikely event I get tired of Dragon Age this weekend, I might dip into the backlog to see if I can finish something off – I’m thinking Advanced Warfare is a likely suspect.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard): This weekend I will be watching the PlayStation event remotely to cover it for the website. In my free time however, I am still slowly working through my backlog and piling more on top of it. I have a Dragon Age game that needs some attention, I'm about halfway through Sunset Overdrive and The Evil Within, and – just because I didn't already have enough to play – I started a Kingdom Hearts II HD game last night and got to the point where you finally start playing as Sora. Also, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

Wade Wojcik (@WadeWojcik): I’ll be filming my last weekend of principal photography on my Halo fan film, Dawn Under Heaven. Hopefully I’ll have more time to battle the Iron Horde in Warlords!

Dan Tack (@dantack):World of Warcraft, raiding Highmaul and Hearthstone, playing with all the cool new goblins vs gnomes tech in Arena!

Sam Stewart (@_SamStewart):With the Dota 2 Nemesis Assassin Event ending this Sunday I’m going to try my hardest to reach 40 assassination points before then. When I’m not fulfilling assassination contracts, I’ll probably be trying to finish up Wolfenstein: The New Order and challenging my friends to online matches in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. http://www.dota2.com/oracle/day3

Matthew Stolpe (@matthew_stolpe):  I was separated from my dear, dear Destiny over the Thanksgiving holiday so I plan on making up for lost time this weekend. I just recently got to level 20 and now I’m gearing up for the endless loot hunting and resource farming that’s in store for me.
