Recently, Wii U owners have been reporting problems following the latest Super Smash Bros. update. Error codes related to system memory have emerged leaving the game and consoles unusable.

The two codes in question are 160-0103 and 160-1710. When reached for comment, Nintendo of America confirmed the problems and said that they are under investigation.

“A small percentage of consumers playing Wii U may experience error codes (160-0103 and 160-1710) that could affect the ability of the system to function properly,” a representative told us via email. “We are investigating this issue now.”

Nintendo recommends that until there is a solution that affected Wii U owners contact Nintendo directly. The company suggests calling 1-800-255-3700 for further guidance. We will continue to monitor this situation and update as more information is available. For more on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, check out our review.

Our Take
It’s not uncommon for game updates to deliver unintended consequences, but this one needs to be addressed quickly. Hopefully a software update will fix it and those affected won’t need to send their consoles in for repair.
