[Update] EA And DICE Have Fixed Problems With Battlefield 4 Final Stand DLC

by Mike Futter on Dec 03, 2014 at 06:53 AM

Update: If you've been having problems with Final Stand, you should be in the clear. EA has contacted us to let us know the issues have been fixed.

Original Story:

The last piece of Battlefield 4 DLC, Final Stand, isn’t working for a number of players. Users are reporting that non-Premium members who purchased the content a la carte are unable to use it.

Following reports from our readers and investigation of the problem on the Battlefield forums, we reached out to EA. The publisher shared a statement acknowledging the issues.

“We are aware of the issue regarding Battlefield 4 Final Stand not working for non-Premium players and are working on a solution,” a representative told us via email. “We ask that fans experiencing this issue manually remove Final Stand from their hard drive. Once we can confirm the solution players will need to re-download it. Stay tuned to official Battlefield channels for updates.”

Players have shared that attempting to join servers running maps from Final Stand report errors. Specifically, notifications improperly indicate that the content is not installed. We’ll update as more information emerges.

Our Take
Battlefield 4 launched poorly, and even after smoothing out, the road was still bumpy. EA is looking ahead to both Battlefield Hardline and Star Wars Battlefront in 2015, and both simply need to be better than what DICE put out in 2013. For more, check out our E3 interview with DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson during which we spoke about the partnership with Visceral Games and the possibility of Early Access launches.
