[Update] Time Running Out To Bid On Unearthed E.T. Cartridges

The lost E.T. cartridges that were located and excavated as part of a documentary film will be auctioned off by the city of Alamogordo, New Mexico.
The cartridges, which were buried in the desert outside of Alamogordo following the failure of the game and 1983 meltdown of the game industry, had been thought to be an urban legend by some. However, documentary filmmakers recent located the cache and dug them up.
However, the cartridges were legally the property of the city of Alamogordo. According to Reuters, the city council voted 7-0 on Tuesday to auction off the 800 found cartridges on eBay and its own website.
The documentary, Atari: Game Over, is supposed to release sometime this fall to Xbox Live Gold members.
