Bloodborne Delayed, Will Infect PlayStation 4 Over One Month Later

by Mike Futter on Nov 12, 2014 at 12:12 AM

Don't worry, game lovers. Just because 2014 is over doesn't mean that "year of delays" needs to come to a close.

Sony announced this morning that Bloodborne, its exclusive PlayStation 4 title from the creators of the Dark Souls series, From Software, has been delayed. The title had been pinned to a February 6 release date, but now the developer has an additional seven weeks to finish.

"While development continues unabated, we would like our team to deliver the best possible final experience," writes producer Masaaki Yamagiwa on the PlayStation Blog. "We were gratified by the feedback and data we received from those who participated in our limited Alpha test. The extra production time will also allow us to better integrate these learnings."

The title is now slated for a March 24 release in North America. All territories have been delayed.

Our Take
With The Order: 1886 launching on February 20, 2015, moving Bloodborne out of the month entirely was the right move. I know the February through April window is becoming as hot as the fall rush, but releasing two crucial titles in the same month was folly. Even accounting for fiscal year timing, two releases this close that might attract a heavily overlapped audience wasn't the right call.
