Bungie Is About To Make It Easier To Collect Destiny Upgrade Materials

by Mike Futter on Nov 10, 2014 at 03:48 PM

Praise the Cryptarch. In its most recent weekly update, Bungie has some news for Destiny fans that should speed the upgrade process for high-end weapons and armor. The developer has been quietly working on some new tweaks to the experience.

Among the short list of upcoming improvements, Bungie says it will be implementing "new economies" for players to earn materials more quickly. We'll also soon have a way to preview weapons before purchasing and new shaders for gear.

Some Crucible arenas will be getting tweaks for traffic purposes, and the Cryptarch might soon find his heart growing a few sizes (though not so big that he won't steal Cryptmas sometimes). Bungie also hints that the frequency of public events will increase soon.

Our Take

The prospect of faster flowing materials seems like a great way to smooth out endgame progression. My only concern is that "new economies" sounds like in-app purchases. Extremely hopeful that's not the direction in which things are moving.
