Season Pass For The Crew Gifts You Two Cars At Launch & More

by Matthew Kato on Nov 06, 2014 at 04:52 AM

Ubisoft just detailed the season pass and constituent DLC for open world racer The Crew, and there are a couple of surprises in store for players picking it up.

Buy the season pass for $24.99 and you'll naturally get the game's four planned DLC car packs (available for $6.99) along with a bonus – two exclusive cars at launch: the McLaren 12C and the Ferrari 458 Speciale. You can also get the season pass by buying the Gold Edition. Even though this digital edition of the game is not available for the 360 version of the game, the DLC and season pass still apply to that old-gen system.

Apart from the dozen cars in the packs (and the two extra ones), the season pass also grants you 23 tuning kits for maximum performance on any terrain, all the official paintjobs and rims for the cars (check out this video for more on the game's customization), and an exclusive stick for each car pack.

Finally, you'll also get these packs a week before they go on sale.

The release window and details (direct from Ubisoft) on the car packs are:

  • Extreme Car Pack: Performance vehicles that'll help you stay ahead of the pack in thrilling, high-octane missions. Available January 2015.

  • Speed Car Pack: These sports cars are finely tuned for racing at breakneck speeds. Available February 2015.

  • Vintage Car Pack: Visiting an iconic American locale? You'll want to be seen in these equally iconic rides. Available March 2015.

  • Raid Car Pack: When heading off the beaten path, you can't do better than these all-terrain vehicles. Available April 2015.

Regardless of whether you get the season pass or not, Ubisoft will release new missions revolving around the packs' themes that everyone can play for free.

The Crew comes out December 2 for the PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Xbox 360.

Our Take:
It's nice to see a car game try to do at least something slightly different with its DLC. The car packs themselves are nothing new, but at least the exclusive extra cars, early timing, and other goodies give some additional incentive.
