Marvel Plots Its Course To Avengers: Infinity War Films

by Mike Futter on Oct 28, 2014 at 08:58 AM

At a special event today, Marvel announce the future of its film universe. Yesterday, news leaked that Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch might be playing the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange. While that bit of info was not confirmed at Marvel's event in Los Angeles, we do know dates and names for other upcoming films.

The next Marvel film is the Avengers: Age of Ultron (we shared the trailer with you last week). We also knew that Ant-Man is slated for next summer.

Here’s the new information, though. Captain America and Thor are getting third films, Guardians of the Galaxy is getting a sequel, T’Challa the Black Panther (played by Chadwick Boseman) gets a solo appearance, and The Inhumans and Captain Marvel are coming to the silver screen.

  • Avengers: Age of Ultron - May 1, 2015
  • Ant-Man - July 17 ,2015
  • Captain America: Civil War - May 6, 2016 - Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins here
  • Doctor Strange - November 4, 2016
  • Thor: Ragnarok - July 18, 2017
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - May 5, 2017
  • Black Panther - November 3, 2017
  • Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1 - May 4, 2018
  • Captain Marvel - July 6, 2018
  • The Inhumans - November 2, 2018
  • Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2 - May 3, 2019

Between Marvel and DC (which recently announced its own cinematic plans), the next few years are going to be a celebration of comic book adoration.
