Battlefield Hardline Has A March 2015 Release Date
As part of its quarterly earnings report, EA has announced when Visceral’s take on the Battlefield franchise will arrive. Battlefield Hardline hits retail on March 17, 2015.
EA delayed the game in July following the beta test that ran during E3. "This feedback spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better," said DICE vice president Karl Magnus Troeddson at the time. "The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months."
EA also delayed the next Need for Speed title out of 2014 to give the Ghost Games more time. We’ll have more from EA’s upcoming earnings call later this afternoon.
Our Take
EA is giving Visceral more than ample time to course correct Battlefield Hardline. After the disaster of Battlefield 4’s launch, the publisher needs to give the next title every chance at success. The franchise can’t suffer another failure like the last title.
