DC Announces Digital First Mortal Kombat X And Fables: Wolf Among Us Comics

by Kyle Hilliard on Oct 12, 2014 at 09:07 AM

Announced during the New York Comic Con DC Digitial: Download This! panel, comic based on the upcoming Mortal Kombat X and Telltale's Wolf Among Us are on the way.

Coming to digital first before print (as the headline implies) Mortal Kombat takes place 25 years after the events of 2011's Mortal Kombat and serves as a prequel to Mortal Kobat X. The series is written by Shawn Kittelsen with interior art by Dexter Soy and covers by Ivan Reis. You will be able to start reading the series in January 2015. Mortal Kombat X is planned for release in April 2015.

DC also announced Fables: The Wolf Among Us which will debut digitally in December 2014 with a print version to release next year. The comic will be based on Telltale's game, which is based on the Fables comic book series. The Wolf Among us is a prequel to the Fables comic series, so presumably, this is being released to fill in the gap for readers of the comic who did not play the game. The series is written by Matthew Sturges and Dave Justus with art by Steve Sadowski, Travis Moore, and Shawn McManus, and covers by Chrissie Zullo.

Our Take
Prequel comic stories for video games are popular means of storytelling, but I am curious to know if fans read them. Are you excited to learn about the story lead-up to Mortal Kombat X? Or will you just be waiting to play the full game?
