Minecraft Comes To PlayStation Vita On October 14

by Mike Futter on Oct 10, 2014 at 04:51 AM

Minecraft is finally coming to Sony’s handheld, and if you own the PlayStation 3 version, there is some good news. Cross-buy is enabled between PS3 and Vita.

Unfortunately, if you only have the PlayStation 4 edition, you’ll need to purchase the Vita version (or the PS3 edition). You’ll get both, regardless of where you start.

If you want all three and don’t have any yet? Your best bet is to purchase the PS3 or Vita version and then get the PS4 edition for a $4.99 upgrade.

The game will be available for purchase and download on October 14 from the PlayStation Store. If you are interested in retail, you’ll have to wait for November 11. The boxed version comes with a code for access to the $4.99 PS4 upgrade offer.

Our Take
Minecraft has worked wonderfully on mobile devices, and I suspect the port to Vita will be just fine. However, control scheme will make all the difference, so I’m looking forward to understanding how the touchscreen might be used in this edition.
