Play Oldboy's Iconic Hallway Hammer Scene In Pixelated Video Game Form

by Kyle Hilliard on Oct 05, 2014 at 08:53 AM

Its creator David Abbott describes it as, "A pixel-art corridor-based hammer-fighting game."

If you've seen the 2003 Chan-wook Park directed Oldboy, then you know the scene with the hammer in the hallway stands out to as an impressive and unsettling display of violence in a movie that is already pushing hard against pretty much every boundary it can find. Concept artist David Abbott has taken that iconic scene, and turned into a game that looks like it would fit in nicely next to classic Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet.

You can find the game and play it in your browser here. For more of David Abbott's work, head here. If you're unfamiliar with the scene, you can check it out here. Even without the context of the rest of the film, it's still an impressive and brutal sequence.

Now we just need a video game version of this scene.
