Police Call In Bomb Disposal Unit For Bomb Threat Near Gearbox Headquarters

A bomb threat was recently issued near Gearbox Software's headquarters in Plano, Texas.

Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software (Borderlands, Battleborn) detailed the situation in a series of tweets which you can see below.

Pitchford answered a few more questions about the threat, but his knowledge was limited as the police department did not share any details.

Based on Pitchford's tweets, it appears the threat was not issued directly to Gearbox and the studio's involvement is a matter of proxy. The building housing Gearbox is home to multiple businesses including garage door repair, assorted lawyers, and a property rental company among others.

We've reached out to the Plano, TX police department for more information and will update this story if any details can be shared.

Our Take
I'm happy to hear that the situation ended without incident and everyone is safe. I'm curious to learn if the threat had anything at all to do with Gearbox, though it really is sounding like it's unrelated. Hopefully the Plano police department will be able to offer some more information.
