GTA V Gets 2014 New-Gen Release Date, 2015 PC Launch

by Mike Futter on Sep 12, 2014 at 02:44 AM

Rockstar has confirmed one of the most anticipated bits of news for this fall. Grand Theft Auto V has release dates on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC (though the latter might be a bit disappointed).

For those playing on Sony and Microsoft’s new consoles, circle November 18 on your calendar. PC owners looking to visit Los Santos will have a slightly delayed trip. That version is coming on January 27, 2015.

The new versions included denser cities, more wildlife, and better damage and weather effects. The player count for GTA Online has been increased to 30, and anyone that pre-orders will get $1 million in-game cash.

The Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions also include more cars, including classics from the GTA series (like the Dukes and the Dodo Seaplane) as well as 100 new songs and remixes. The new cars (as well as new weapons and shooting range challenges) are a bonus for players that have completed the prologue on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. You'll just need to make sure you're logged in with your Rockstar Social Club account to register your eligibility.

Our Take
Rockstar isn't shy about wading into crowded release dates. On console, it takes on EA (Dragon Age: Inquisition) and Ubisoft (Far Cry 4). On PC, Rockstar fires a shot across Deep Silver's bow. The expansion for Saints Row IV featuring Johnny Gat's trip to Hell releases that day.
