Resident Evil 5, Dead Rising 2 Abandon Games For Windows, Jump To Steam
Capcom revealed two of its PC titles are abandoning the moribund Games for Windows Live platform in favor of the much more popular Steam service.
In a Capcom Unity blog post, the company revealed that Resident Evil 5, Dead Rising 2, and Dead Rising 2: Off The Record are all making the transition to Steamworks early next year. If you already own these games for GFWL, don't fret. Capcom says current owners will be transitioned to the new platform.
Our Take
I'll be honest – I totally forgot about Games For Windows Live until I saw this news. That says everything you need to know about why Capcom is making the jump to Steam. It has a larger user base, which could ultimately bring more people into the fold – even for games that are now five and four years old, respectively.
