Saints Row IV: Re-Elected Coming January 27

by Joe Juba on Aug 29, 2014 at 07:50 AM

Deep Silver and Volition are re-releasing Saints Row IV on new-gen consoles to coincide with the release of the expansion, Gat Out of Hell. The PS4 and Xbox One game will feature all of the DLC from Saints Row IV, plus a few other perks.

Saints Row IV puts players in the role of the President of the United States, but your time in the Oval Office is cut short when aliens attack. The rest of the game has you exploring a simulated version of Steelport (the city from Saints Row: The Third), gathering powers and storming around like super hero. For more about the original, read our review.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected brings all of that to the new crop of consoles, plus the DLC, community challenges, and an improvement (though slight) to the graphics.

If that isn't incentive enough, think about this: The expansion, Gat Out of Hell, uses your Saints Row IV save data to bring your version of the boss into the cutscenes. Since Saints Row IV didn't appear on PS4 or Xbox One, you'll need to get Re-Elected if you don't want to see a stock version of the boss in those versions of Gat Out of Hell.

Re-Elected hits January 27, the same day as Gat Out of Hell. It costs $30 individually, and $50 bundled with Gat Out of Hell.

Our Take
Though I personally preferred Saints Row: The Third, Saints Row IV was still a fun game. It was like the Crackdown sequel I wanted but never got, and I played it a lot when it came out last year. I'm personally more interested in the new content in Gat Out of Hell, but for people who haven't played Saints Row IV before, this looks like a good deal.
