Report: Resident Evil Revelations 2 Box Art Appears Online

by Mike Futter on Aug 20, 2014 at 02:47 AM

Fans have been clamoring for another Resident Evil game, and it appears that they’ll be getting their wish. Many expected that the next console title would be Resident Evil 7, but it seems Capcom is going in a different direction.

French site Gamer in a Box spotted box art (using the series' Japanese Biohazard name), and a single image hosted on Xbox.com (since removed). Given the appearance on Microsoft’s site, a console release seems to be in the cards, even though the original Resident Evil Revelations launched first on 3DS in early 2012. The title made the jump to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC in mid-2013.

The existence of Resident Evil Revelations 2 was previously hinted at via Russian retailer VideoIGR, which pegged the game for Microsoft and Sony’s old and new consoles. For more on Resident Evil Revelations, check out our review.

Our Take
While fans weren’t thrilled with Resident Evil 6, there is still much love for the franchise. It seems we get hopeful emails from readers every couple of weeks asking us when the series will return, and every major trade show brings new hope. Here’s hoping that your ship comes in soon, zombie lovers.
