Konami Shuts Down Metal Gear Fan Remake, Developers Release Trailer
Outer Heaven, the mod team developing a remake of the original Metal Gear, has cancelled its project. In the wake of this cancellation, it released a trailer for its unfinished game.
The team was highly invested in its project. It had even snagged David Hayter, the voice of Snake up through Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, to provide voice work. You can watch the trailer below.
Metal Gear Informer corresponded with Ian Ratcliffe, a developer attached to the project. They were told that "we can no longer go ahead with the project, it seems like the guys over at Konami couldn't agree on a decision so had no choice but to shut us down."
Konami was originally okay with the project under the condition that it couldn't be produced for profit, which the team had been honoring. Some fans have begun to believe that the shutdown is cause to assume that Konami may be working on its own remake of the title.

It's a little disappointing that Konami went back on their approval for this project. What was shown so far was promising and had many Metal Gear fans excited. Still, if this news does indeed ring a bell to indicate Konami's own Metal Gear remake, then all is not lost.
