Classic Mega Man Soundtracks Get 10-Volume Digital Release

by Mike Futter on Aug 01, 2014 at 05:43 AM

Sumthing Else Music Works has announced a 10-volume collection of Mega Man soundtracks from the Blue Bomber’s adventures. The first four volumes are available now, with the remainder rolling out two at a time over the coming months.

The albums include selected tracks from the PlayStation 2 anniversary collection. Each costs $9.99 and is available directly from Sumthing Else’s website, Amazon, iTunes, and other digital distribution services.

For more Mega Man music, you can check out an OC Remix collection celebrating the series’ 25th anniversary. It can also be purchased digitally for $10 from a variety of digital distribution outlets.

You can also hear composer Manami Matsumae’s work in the upcoming spiritual successor to Mega Man, Comcept’s Kickstarted Mighty No. 9. She’s also behind two of the tracks on the Shovel Knight soundtrack and has recently been involved in a collaboration of Eastern and Western composers.

(Note: A clarification was added to Matusmae's role in the Shovel Knight soundtrack, clearly identifying that she worked on two of the tracks. Jake Kaufman was behind the majority of the music heard in that game.)

Our Take
This collection takes me back, as Mega Man 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. I could stand to replay it again, especially since I can blast through it in a few hours time.
