New Images Of Transformers Sega MegaDrive Megatron And His Sonic Cartridge

Takara Tomy has released new images of its upcoming Sega MegaDrive (Genesis)-themed Transformer. The evil leader of the Decepticons has taken on a new form, and he even comes with one of that console’s most popular games.

As you can see from the images, it looks like Megatron also has some USB functionality, as there is a drive in place of his cannon. We’re not clear yet on whether the cartridge is for show or actually functions when connected to a PC. 

Even if it doesn’t, as a display collectible, this Megatron is both sinister and nostalgic. This isn’t bad comedy. It’s a Transformer you never knew you wanted until now.

Megatron will be coming in September (check your favorite local import retailers). After that, a PlayStation-themed Optimus Prime is due to roll out.
