by Wayne Stainrook on Jul 25, 2014 at 11:40 AM

As the summer months begin to wane, some of you may be traveling or enjoying vacation away from your video game consoles. Fear not, for we've once again rounded up some titles for your mobile device to scratch that gaming itch while you're soaking in the sun.

Revolution 60
Developer: Giant Spacekat
Platforms: iOS
Price: $5.99

In this sci-fi RPG, players control an assassin named Holiday by swiping various gestures on the grid-based battlefield and shape the narrative through her interactions with the world. With a real-time battle system and graphics reminiscent of early pre-rendered CGI, Revolution 60 is the most unique title on our list.

Canabalt 2.0
Developer: Semi Secret Software
Platforms: iOS
Price: $0.99

The classic endless runner that began the genre craze on the App Store, Canabalt is back with some new tricks in version 2.0. The latest update introduces multiplayer and a host of other new game modes, including leap of faith, which makes rooftops invisible.

Guardians of the Galaxy: The Universal Weapon
Developer: Marvel Entertainment
Platforms: iOS, Android
Price: $4.99

Why wait another week to see the movie when you can guard the galaxy yourself? Outfit your party with weapons and abilities, then command them in battle in this action RPG, told through an original storyline in classic comic book style.

Ascension: Rise of Vigil
Developer: Playdek
Platforms: iOS
Price: $3.99

Digital card games like Hearthstone and Magic 2015 – Duels of the Planeswalkers attract a lot of attention (and with good reason), but Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer is worth a mention. The latest expansion pack introduces more energy shards for energizing heroes and constructs, raising the stakes of battle.

Traps n' Gemstones
Developer: Donut Games
Platforms: iOS, Android
Price: Limited time sale of $2.99 on iOS, $4.99 on Android

The App Store is filled with games of varying quality from every genre imaginable, from match-3 puzzle games to online first-person shooters, so it's always refreshing to find a solid, classic-style platformer. Control an archaeologist through the ruins of a labyrinthine pyramid, collecting weapons, uncovering relics and battling monsters for some old-school action.
