Maisie Williams In Talks For The Last of Us Film

by Ben Reeves on Jul 25, 2014 at 03:09 PM

While original voice actress Ashley Johnson would be perfect for the role of Ellie in Screen Gems' upcoming Last of Us film, she's a little old to portray a 14-year-old onscreen. However, the HBO's Game of Thrones star, who plays Arya Stark, could make a descent stand in.

During a Screen Gems panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, the production team talked about the development of The Last of Us film and mentioned how Game of Throne's Maisie Williams is in talks for the lead role of Ellie, but nothing has yet been signed, so that could change.

Sam Raimi is currently producing the film, and game writer Neil Druckmann is taking a first pass at the game’s script. The film was announced back in March. Check out our casting call for the film, where we suggested another Game of Throne’s actor for one of the parts.

Our Take
This sounds great. Child actors are sometimes challenging to find (*cough* Anakin Skywalker), but Williams has already proved herself on Game of Thrones. I think she'd make a great Ellie.
