The lights are on
Activision releases most of the Transformers game we see here in North America, but in Japan, Sega released an arcade exclusive Transformers on-rails shooter.
The game, subtitled Human Alliance, appears to take place in the Transformers film universe, but its human characters have changed appearance. In the trailer below, you will see a character named Sam, who doesn't look anything like Sam from the films.
You might be surprised to learn Transformers isn't the only high-profile license to have a recent arcade exclusive. We recently profiled a very successful Batman arcade game, which you can read about here.

Our TakeI would like to see this game, alongside the Batman arcade title linked above, available as inexpensive downloadable titles. They could even be free-to-play and require the purchase of credits if the developers chose – I just want the opportunity to try them out. There are so few arcades these days, that even if this Transformers game did come to North America, I don't know if I would be able to find one to actually play.
