The lights are on
All Browncoats attending this year's San Diego
Comic-Con should keep an eye out for Firefly Online, an online RPG developed by
Spark Plug Games. Those attending can see a commentated gameplay walkthrough
and a new trailer.
Anyone looking to see the game in action will want to
go to room 24ABC from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Pacific on July 24. Seats are limited, though, so fans
will want to get there early to guarantee a spot.
The RPG is based on Joss Whedon's hit single-season
sci-fi TV series Firefly. In Firefly
Online, you take control of a ship, a crew, and go on swashbuckling adventures.
Firefly Online is currently set to release on PC,
Mac, iOS, and Android. The official website for the game states that it's
slated for a release sometime this summer. For those who can't get enough of Firefly, check out the excellent tabletop game based on the show.
Our TakeI'm a big fan of the show and won't decline new
Firefly media. I just hope that the game accentuates what people love about the series (cool characters, clever writing, and
interesting stories) and less on trying to force fan service. We don't know a lot about the game yet, so I will reserve any judgment until after we see
some gameplay and a trailer.
