[Update] Destiny's Iron Banner Event Has Concluded

by Ben Reeves on Jul 19, 2014 at 01:00 PM

Update 2: The Destiny beta's Iron Banner event, which took players to Mars, has concluded.

Update 1: Starting now, and for the next two hours, you can take part in the Iron Banner event in the Destiny beta.

Original Story:

Bungie's beta for Destiny just launched, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. This weekend beta players will be able to jump into a new Iron Banner event that will take them to Mars and beyond.

On Saturday at 2pm PST a new Iron Banner event will take place for only two hours. This event includes two new maps, which will take players back to Rusted Lands from the alpha and to Mars for the first time. Iron Banner is the only way players will be able to see these maps in the Beta. Players who do well in this new competitive adventure will have an opportunity to earn rare new loot.

In addition to the Iron Banner event, the Destiny Companion is now available for download on iOS and Android, and app users will be able to inspect and manage their Guardian right from their phone.

This won’t be the only opportunity to experience something new in the Destiny's Beta, so stay tuned to Bungie's website for more information. Destiny hits PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on September 9.

Our Take
This is cool. I know that Bungie has never called Destiny an MMO, but sounds a lot like one in a lot of ways. Now I have to rush home and download the beta. Excuse me!
