Learn To Free Run Like An Assassin At Comic Con This Year

Ubisoft announced today that they will be debuting “the Assassin’s Creed Experience”, a parkour obstacle course inspired by the developers flagship franchise, at San Diego’s Comic Con this year. As part of the event, coaches will be teaching participants some of the building scaling, rooftop leaping techniques straight out of the game.

The Assassin’s Creed Experience is designed by Ubisoft’s new “Chief Parkour Officer” Michael “Frosti” Zernow and Tempest Freerunning. In addition to having possibly the world’s coolest job title, Zernow will be advising on Assassin’s Creed going forward to ensure the authenticity of the parkour techniques depicted in-game.

Zernow and coaches from Tempest Freerunning will be on-site at Comic Con to help visitors navigate the obstacle course, and try their hand at iconic Assassin’s Creed moves, like running across rooftops and even performing a 25-foot “leap of faith.”

The course is inspired by the French Revolution setting of Assassin’s Creed Unity and will be available to try from Thursday, July 24 through Sunday, July 27 at the Martin Luther King Jr Promenade across the street from the San Diego Convention Center. Assassin’s Creed Unity is coming out for Play Station 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28. Our Take:
Assassin's Creed was arguably the game that introduced parkour not only to video games, but to the larger public in general, so this publicity event feels surprisingly appropriate. I think everyone who's ever played or watched Assassin's Creed has wished they could do the things the Assassins pull off, so I could see this being a lot of fun. I sure hope Ubisoft knows that a bale of hay won't really cushion a 25-foot dive off a building, however.
