Weekend Warrior 7/11/2014

by Wayne Stainrook on Jul 11, 2014 at 02:00 PM

Just as the members of Loverboy once said in all their infinite wisdom, everyone in the Game Informer office is "working for the weekend." This week, everyone's got a diverse round-up of games on their respective agendas, ranging from Kickstarter RPGs to classic game franchise revivals.

Joe Juba: I've got a game to play for review, but once that's finished, I plan on sinking some serious time into Divinity: Original Sin. I tried started it this week, but had to stop at character customization; an optimizer like me can't choose skills/abilities without doing some thorough research beforehand.

Jeff Marchiafava: Last weekend’s attempt to play a bunch of downloadable games ended in abject failure, thanks to boring real-world games like mowing the lawn and cleaning out my refrigerator (when did I become an adult?!). However, I did start Strider and Transistor later in the week. Neither of them completely blew me away, though I do want to play more of them this weekend. I’ve also still got Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes to play, if I can stay awake during the intro scene this time.

Kyle Hilliard: I'm hopping back and forth between Lords of Shadow 2 and Wolfenstein and I'm hoping to finish at least one of them this weekend. I'm also looking forward to watching Kurt Metzger's new stand-up this weekend. If you're unfamiliar with the comedian's work, here's one of my favorite bits of his.

Ben Hanson: I'm really looking forward to this weekend. I'm hoping to check out Cannon Brawl and Action Henk on Steam along with a couple of other games that I need to finish off. There's also Strider waiting for me on my PS4 along with the last half of Transistor. I hope you enjoy your weekend!

Tim Turi: I finally finished up Strider, which had a disappointingly frustrating final approach. With that in my rearview mirror, I’m going to keep trucking with Cave Story on 3DS,and hopefully find some time to finally try Watch Dogs and play some of this Divinity: Original Sin I’ve been hearing so much about.

Dimitri Gedevanishvili: I finished The Wolf Among Us episode 4 last night and enjoyed it. I’m hoping to get to episode 5 before Monday. I also plan on seeing the new Planet of the Apes movie at some point as well if I can find some people to go with.

Harry Mackin: I won’t have much video gaming time this weekend as I’ll be doing other awesome, nerdy things like starting yet other D and D campaign (I based my new character on Oberyn Martell :D) and going to the Science Museum to learn about DINOSAURS! If I’ve got time, however, I’d like to keep plugging away at Far Cry 3, Persona 4, and Shovel Knight. I also just started yet another run-through of Mass Effect, so hopefully I’ll get to do a bit of that. Have a good weekend!

Wayne Stainrook: It seems the only video game-related thing I have planned for this weekend it EVO 2014 hype, and that's fine by me. Also, I've had A Clash Of Kings sitting on my coffee table for three weeks now, so maybe I'll finally crack open that behemoth. And since I've been hearing more and more about it, I might dig in to Hannibal on Amazon Instant video, too!
