This Week In Mobile: Sales, Sequels, Sonic

This week, moblie gamers playing on either iOS systems or Android have a wide selection of sales, re-releases, sequels, and new titles to choose from. Whether you're looking for a casual game to kill an hour or two with or something a little more substantial, there should be something here for you.

Dungeon Hearts Blitz
Developer: Devolver
Platforms: iOS, Android
Price: Free

This free-to-play match-3 puzzle role playing game is not a sequel to last year’s Dungeon Hearts per-say, but it was developed by the publishers of the previous title, and includes similar core gameplay. The casual puzzler uses simple tap controls to swap and match up tiles, over the top of a loose RPG battle system with attacking, defending, healing, 12 party members to choose from, and 150 dungeons to battle through.

        

SoulCraft 2
Developer: MobileBits GmbH
Platforms: Android
Price: Free

SoulCraft 2 is a free-to-play action RPG featuring hack-and-slash combat with angels and demons. This sequel introduces seven new angelic heroes specializing in either melee or ranged attacks, a full single player campaign that continues the story of the original, and a new multiplayer league with asynchronous competitive combat, daily leagues, and leaderboards.  

The Blackwell Series
Developer: Wadjet Eye Games LLC
Platforms: iOS
Price: $1.99 (Legacy), $2.99 (Unbound), $2.99 (Convergence)

Blackwell is a series of five point-and-click adventure games for PC that have been coming out since 2006. Now, the first three Blackwell titles: Legacy, Unbound, and Convergence, are availalbe for the first time on iOS. Blackwell follows Rosa Blackwell, who discovers she has the ability to communicate with ghosts, and Joey Mallone, her spirit companion. Blackwell is hand-illustrated, and features full voice acting. Keep an eye out for the last two games, Deception and Epiphany, later this year.

Urban Trial Freestyle
Developer: Tate Interactive
Platforms: iOS
Price: $1.99

Tate Interactive’s action-bike racing game originally came out on PSN, 3DS, and PC in 2013, and now it’s available for iOS devices. Perform stunts and dodge obstacles in over 40 levels with either tilt controls or virtual buttons. You can also use the track editor to make your own levels, or play any of the three different game modes. Facebook integration and leaderboards return for the iOS version, as well. There’s also a free ‘trial version’ available for free.   

Supra RPG
Developer: Rasmus Halsas
Platforms: iOS
Price: Free

Inspired by classic role playing games, Supra RPG is a side scrolling throwback featuring retro music, graphics, and gameplay. Customize your hero with three different core playstyles and 54 abilities, and collect loot as you explore the world of Supra on a quest to confront the masters of evil: the Winter Witch, Fallen Warrior, Dark Wizard, and Elemental Knight.

Blek
Developer: kunabi brother 
Platforms: iOS, Android
Price: $0.99 (iOS), $2.99 (Android)

The critically acclaimed Blek originally released for iOS in March this year, but now it’s available for Android and is on sale for iOS systems for just 99 cents. In Blek, you swipe your finger to create a gesture which keeps moving in the pattern you used to make it, bumping into the walls of your device. You beat each level by sketching a gesture that touches all the colored orbs that float on-screen while avoiding the black dots.

Assassin’s Creed Pirates

Price: Free (this week only- iOS), $5 (Android)

Ubisoft’s mobile Assassin’s Creed title, based around the popular naval combat from Black Flag, originally released in December last year, but now it’s the free app of the week in the Apple App Store. Pirates was also just updated for the fourth time. The new update includes new missions, ship customization, unique rewards, and improved ship combat. The naval battling game’s fourth update will be included with all new purchases. 

Sonic Jump Fever
Developer: Hardlight Studio
Platforms: iOS, Android
Price: Free

This vertical platformer game is the sequel to 2012’s Sonic Jump. In Sonic Jump Fever, players choose from a number of Sonic characters as they race against the clock to get as high they can while racking up combos and collecting rings to get a high score. The new fever mode puts your character into hyper speed, allowing for even higher scores. Comparable leaderboards are available, so you can compete with your friends.
