YouTube Debuts 60 FPS Videos With Titanfall and Battlefield: Hardline Trailers

by Matt Helgeson on Jun 27, 2014 at 06:37 AM

YouTube is getting set to deliver the ability for content creators to upload 60 frames per second videos, and two of its initial examples are game trailers.

The news was announced on the YouTube Creators Blog: “Your video game footage with crazy high frame rates will soon look as awesome on YouTube as it does when you’re playing, when we launch support for 48 and even 60 frames per second in the coming months. Take a look at some preview videos on the YT Creator Channel. Make sure you’re watching in HD!”

To that end, we’ve posted the clips below. Do make sure to hit the little gear icon and upgrade the resolution to 1080p, it makes quite a difference.

YouTube also announced that it would be adding "Tip Jar" feature starting with a handful of content producer channels. This will allow you to make direct financial donations to your favorite YouTube creators with the click of a button embedded on the video page.

Our Take
This is great news for gamers, as YouTube has become the chief way that companies display their games to us. I’m sure this will also be welcomed by the many YouTube game streamers and competitive gaming organizations that rely on YouTube for much of their exposure.
