Where Is Our Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark Review?
Rise of the Dark Spark released on a number of systems yesterday, including PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, Wii U, and PC, with a separate but identically named game on 3DS. With many of our reviews, we’re able to play the game ahead of time to prep a review for timely release, but Activision did not provide review code in advance of release.
I was personally a big fan of War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron, and I’ve remained curious leading up to launch about how Rise of the Dark Spark would turn out. With a different developer on the job, as well as the questionable decision to mix the movie Transformers universe with the continuity presented in the High Moon games, I already had some concerns.
I’m a couple of hours into my time with Rise of the Dark Spark, and I wish I had better news to share. Unfortunately, much of what I’ve encountered so far looks like a rush job, with bare-bones graphics, haphazard level design, and shaky combat. I’ll have my complete review to share in the coming days after I take a comprehensive look, but if you’re like me, and you’ve been eager for another Transformers game, what I’ve played so far does not bode well. Purchase at your own risk.
