Sony Lowers The Last Of Us PS4 Price, Issuing Refunds To PSN Pre-Order Customers

by Kyle Hilliard on Jun 22, 2014 at 09:45 AM

Announced back in April, The Last of Us Remastered (which brings our 2013 game of the year to PlayStation 4) was announced with a $60 price tag. That price has since come down, and Sony is giving the difference back to those who have already pre-paid for the game online.

The fine print on the PlayStation Network says that pre-orders cannot be cancelled, nor can returns be transacted. Despite this, however, VP of publisher and developer relations at Sony Adam Boyes has responded to inquiry on twitter saying the money will be returned to those early adopters.

Our Take
For a short period of time, it seemed like Sony was going to commit to its fine print, and not offer refunds to the early adopters A.K.A. the folks who are clearly the most excited and most supportive of the game coming to PlayStation 4. I don't know if it was just a miscommunication, or if Sony really did have to go back on its original decision, but I'm glad the people who paid for the game early are going to get that money back.
