These Destiny Alpha Stats Came From The Moon

by Mike Futter on Jun 20, 2014 at 11:45 AM

Bungie is rolling with the humorous memes that have spun out of the Destiny alpha, specifically actor Peter Dinklage’s delivery of a line about a wizard from the moon. The company is offering a shirt to commemorate the alpha featuring that now-famous line.

This story isn’t just about a t-shirt, though. Bungie has shared statistics from the alpha that dive into the nearly 6.5 million games played over the four plus days it was live.

  • 149,522,313 Primary Weapon Kills
  • 21,782,610 Secondary Weapon Kills
  • 4,002,737 Heavy Weapon Kills
  • 21,687,298 Super Ability Kills
  • 2,819,211 Orbs of Light Gathered
  • 6,850,773 Control Points Captured in the Crucible
  • 1,195 Deathless Medals awarded in the Crucible
  • 4,356 Splatters with the Sparrow
  • 667,966 Public Events Joined
  • 60,491,944 Fallen Dregs Dispatched with Extreme Prejudice
  • Too many to count: Guardians served in Dance Parties

Bungie will be holding the Destiny beta in July. If you pre-ordered the game, you have a code to give you access on your platform of choice. There’s also been a number of opportunities along the way to score one, and we suspect that you will have additional chances along the way.

Destiny will be out on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3 on September 9. For more from the alpha, check out our Test Chamber. To purchase the commemorative alpha shirt, visit the Bungie store.

Our Take
I enjoyed my time with the Destiny alpha more than I hoped I would. I’m looking forward to seeing more of the game in the beta and will be there on September 9. Hopefully, that wizard will still come from the moon in final release.
