PlayStation 4 To Allow Pre-Loading Games Before Release

by Dimitri Gedevanishvili on Jun 18, 2014 at 11:19 AM

Following in the footsteps of PC gaming, the PlayStation 4 is now allowing players to pre-load their pre-ordered games onto their consoles. This will allow the game to download on the system and be unlocked when the game is officially released allowing for instant play.

Some of the games currently available for pre-order and pre-load include Battlefield Hardline, Bloodborne, Destiny, Far Cry 4, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. The rest of the games available for pre-load can be found on the PlayStation Blog.

In addition, any title pre-ordered on or after May 20 will be available to pre-load as well. Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, set to release on June 24, will be the first game to utilize the new feature.

Our Take
This is definitely a cool feature and signifies how consoles are starting to adapt to the great features made popular by PC gaming. I personally still prefer disks as opposed to digital downloads for most games, but this is an important feature to have for those that prefer digital purchases and getting into the game right away.
