Classic Fallout Games Return To Steam

by Mike Futter on Jun 18, 2014 at 11:55 AM

War never changes, but in this case, it left for a while and came back. In January, publishing rights for classic Fallout games transferred from Interplay to Bethesda. At that time, the titles were removed from GoG and Steam.

Now, Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics are available once more on Steam. You can pick each up for $9.99.

All three titles support Steam Cloud saves. Fallout and Fallout 2 have both a classic and default version. The latter offers higher resolutions. Fallout Tactics continues to offer multiplayer via direct connect options (which means you can play with those who own the game via other services).

Note that Fallout Tactics can’t run on Windows 8. The other two titles will work just fine on Microsoft’s latest operating system.

Our Take
We’ve heard rumblings about an impending Steam summer sale, and this timing might mean there are deals coming soon. Even if not though, these are great games that you should definitely make time for at some point. They’ve aged nicely.
