This Week In Mobile – Battling Hearts, Dots, And Pixels

by Wayne Stainrook on Jun 06, 2014 at 12:00 PM

It's been a few weeks since we've spotlighted some mobile games, so let's dive into some touch screen goodness.

Battleheart Legacy
Developer: Mika Mobile
Platforms: iOS
Price: $4.99

The Successor to 2011’s breakout hit Battleheart, Legacy continues the series’ RPG tradition with a fresh coat of paint. Take on hordes of enemies with hammers and magic spells in an isometric, 3D world, level up, and tap your way toward victory.

République
Developer: Camoflaj
Platforms: iOS
Price: Free until June 12

Though République released at the tail-end of last year, developer Camoflaj announced yesterday the first chapter in the new series is available for free for a limited time. Check out our review.

Tales of the Adventure Company
Developer: Slothwerks
Platforms: Android, iOS
Price: $1.99

In this mix of RPG elements and Picross, players must descend into labyrinths defeating enemies on a five-by-five grid and recruiting allies along the way to face the boss on the final floor. If you’re a fan of old-school aesthetics and dungeon-crawling, this one is worth a look.

TwoDots
Developer: Betaworks One
Platforms: iOS
Price: free

A free-to-play puzzle game, TwoDots tasks you with clearing a board of, well… dots. Drag your finger across the screen to connect dots of the same color to advance in the number of moves allotted. Each of the 85 stages shakes up the formula with different layouts and strategies to advance.

Age of Zombies - Update
Developer: Halfbrick Studios
Platforms: Android ($1), iOS ($0.99)

Yes, this twin-stick touch shooter from Halfbrick predates Fruit Ninja but, just yesterday, the studio dropped a little treat for protagonist Barry Steakfries: A Zombie T-Rex mount. As an added bonus, iOS 7 controller support comes to the latest version, as well.
